COCO CHANEL HAD SEVERAL THINGS GOING FOR HER- NOT THE LEAST OF WHICH WAS THE STING OF NECESSITY, WHICH FORCED HER TO INVENTORY HER MODEST ADVANTAGES AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO LEVERAGE THEM.  HER LIST WAS SHORT BUT WOULD SERVE HER IN GOOD STEAD FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE:
          A. HER LOOKS.
          B. HER MIND, INCLUDING HER POWERS OF OBSERVATON.
          C. HER ABILITY TO GALLOP A HORSE THROUGH THE FOREST.

From the home of my childhood I have brought nothing but precious memories, for there are no memories more precious than those of early childhood in one’s first home. And that is almost always so if there is any love and harmony in the family at all.Indeed, precious memories may remain even of a bad home, if only the heart knows how to find that which is precious.

HOPE
is not the conviction that
something will turn out well,
but the certainty that something

of how it turns out.
